The activity directed to members of the Guatemalan Chamber of Construction, disclosed UNOPS procurement processes, in order to know the guidelines and requirements to participate in them.
Guatemala, August 23, 2021. With the participation of more than 90 people, the first webinar between the Guatemalan Chamber of Construction (CGC) and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) was held this Monday, which was to let the members of the chamber know about the hospital infrastructure program that UNOPS implements for the Guatemalan Social Security Institute (IGSS), called INFRAIGSS, as well as the UNOPS acquisition processes, so that the private construction companies in Guatemala know the guidelines and requirements to participate.
This is the first joint activity between the two institutions, with a view to consolidating a strategic partnership that generates confidence for cooperation to work together and build bridges between the public and private sectors, guaranteeing transparent processes through fair and equitable public management in Guatemala.
“It was very interesting to learn about the UNOPS processes, as well as the hospital infrastructure program it is implementing for the IGSS. We are committed to Guatemala, and we thank UNOPS for having asked the Guatemalan Chamber of Construction to participate, we know how important investments in health infrastructure are for the country. We are sure that in due course, many of our guilds will present technical and economic offers. We welcome this very productive relationship with UNOPS,” said Engineer Rodolfo Martinez, CGC Executive Director.
During the webinar we learned in detail about the platforms in which suppliers must register to know about the open tenders and to be able to participate. In addition, the next tenders within the framework of the INFRAIGSS Program to be published in Guatemala were announced.
“We want professional companies in these processes to work hand in hand with us in making part of UNOPS vision a reality, which is a world in which people can lead a full life through adequate, sustainable, and resilient infrastructure.” stated the Director of the UNOPS office in Guatemala, Mr. Andrea Calvaruso.
INFRAIGSS is the Infrastructure, Hospital Equipment and IT Modernization Program established by the Social Security, with the support of UNOPS to strengthen the capacities of the Social Security for the implementation of the Phase 2 of the Master Plan for the Modernization and Expansion of the IGSS Hospital Network and Services. It includes the design of the Hospital Complex of Zone 11 and the Hospital Arrivillaga in Zone 5 of the capital city, the design and construction of the Hospital Regional de Oriente in Zacapa (with 203 beds) and the High Complexity Hospital (with 300 beds) in Zone 11 of the capital city ,; equipping these hospitals with state-of-the-art medical supplies and adequate furniture; acquiring ambulances; and modernizing the technology infrastructure to expand and improve IGSS coverage and attention to its rights-holders.
