Guatemala, November 16, 2021. The Guatemalan Social Security Institute (IGSS), in compliance with the Strategic Institutional Plan 2018-2022 (PEI), continues to modernize its technology to provide a better service to its affiliates and rights-holders with the acquisition of 3,229 desktop computers equipped with cutting edge technology.
This computer equipment will streamline the care processes in the various medical and administrative units at the national and departmental levels.
José Adolfo Flamenco Jau, president of the IGSS Board of Directors, emphasized that this is a milestone that marks a digital era of the Social Security with transparent and competitive processes. He added that if the staff does not have the right tools, efficient work can’t be demanded.
This acquisition is renewing part of the Institute's equipment. The computers were purchased with the technical support of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) under the INFRAIGSS Program. They are desktop computers and meet the appropriate technical specifications established by the Institute's IT Department and will allow the work in the units of the Institute to be carried out according to the needs required to facilitate the digital transformation in which this department is working on.
“With this computer equipment, the Institute consolidates digital governance and will strengthen the attention of the main programs of the Illness, Maternity, Accidents (EMA) and Disability, Old Age and Survival Institute (IVS),” said Dr. Ana Marilyn Ortiz Ruiz, manager of the Institute.
The equipment is Dell brand with a cost of Q 20,827, 921.92. A total of 974 computers will be distributed in the departmental area and 2, 255 in the metropolitan area, said Engineer Marco Antonio Curley Fonseca, deputy technology manager. “We thank the Board of Directors, the Management and the UNOPS team, it is a very important success for the Institute because it is a sign of the IGSS digital change that we all want,” said Deputy Manager Curley Fonseca.
