New hemodialysis center in Cuilapa, Santa Rosa will bring these services to kidney patients of the Social Security

Guatemala, April 5, 2022. As part of the decentralization process and improvement of renal treatment services at the national level, local authorities, IGSS and UNOPS attended the opening event of the new hemodialysis center in Cuilapa, Santa Rosa of the Guatemalan Social Security Institute. With the participation of the mayor of Cuilapa, Legal Advisor, Manuel Arturo Ávila, Dr. Arturo Garcia Aquino, Deputy Manager of Health Benefits of the IGSS, Dr. Vicente Sánchez Polo, IGSS nephrologist, Dr. Byron Lemus, representative of Clínica Renal Emanuel S.A. the company providing hemodialysis services, Alessandra Menses, AMEDIGSS project manager and Andrea Calvaruso, UNOPS Guatemala Director.

This new center for renal treatment is located in Barrio El Calvario, Cuilapa, Santa Rosa and is part of the medical units oriented to the improvement and efficiency of the

hemodialysis and dialysis services for the care of renal patients affiliated with Social Security at the national level with the support of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).

The center's infrastructure has an installed capacity to care for 120 patients in three shifts with 20 German technology equipment (17 machines in the hemodialysis room and 3 isolated machines) and the design necessary to provide a caring, quality service to renal patients who will receive nutritional and psychological care as part of a comprehensive care that the Institute seeks to provide its affiliates.

The new clinic has all the comfort for patients and brings hemodialysis closer to home and will prevent affiliated persons from having to travel to the capital city.

The IGSS supplier companies play a very important role in the process, as they are responsible for the care centers and have a direct relationship with renal patients and their families.
